Discussion:
Anchored Frame / Forced Justify Problems

Hello,

I am working on a book using framemaker 7.1 as I have access to it for
technical documents, though my personal project is not technical in
nature.

There are several instances where I want to place two photo's alongside
a paragraph and also need them to be anchored as the project is heavily
edited and added to.

I can only seem to get the text to wrap around the anchored frame using
the "run into paragraph" option, however that sets it at the beginning
of the paragraph.

I tried breaking the paragraph midway, but then the line right before
the break becomes un-justified and I can't seem to fix it. I realize I
could work around it with spread, but for some reason any spread <2.5%
or so produces little to no results, and then at >2.6% it balloons to
multiple lines, no matter how precise I go with it, there seems to be a
point where it grows substantially so that every number I enter for
spread is either too thin or too wide.

Each of my main paragraphs has a line space above and below it as well
as indentation by default, so adding many more paragraphs to get
convenient line breaks isn't really an option as it causes flow
problems... I also tried just doing a non-indent, non-space paragraph
type, but then the non-justified last line of previous paragraph makes
it look very odd.

I think I might just be missing something obvious such as a way to make
text flow around an anchored frame that uses "at insertion point" or
another option, but right now I'm a bit stuck and could use whatever
help is available!

thanks!

Not sure I fully understand what you have a problem with but does this
help?

Yes and no,

That is the workaround(just splitting up the paragraphs), but what i
would like to do is have both those anchored frames but with the text
seamless without the breaks.

Even if I remove the space in between the breaks, the last line before
the break isn't justified which makes it look odd.

I just happened upon a workaround that I'm not sure is a good way to do
things, but basically I split a paragraph midway where I want the
graphic, then make the bottom paragraph non-indented with no space
above it, and then I change the upper paragraph to "Run-In Header",
which apparently force justifies the last line of that paragraph, to
give me what I want.

The downside is that I still have to split the paragraphs, but this
"Run-In Header" workaround to force justify seems to work... I'm just
not sure if I will run into problems later on using this solution....
it also brings in the problem that I have to clone each paragraph type
"XXX" to have a "XXXRunIn" type, which will double the time making
paragraph wide changes, but so far its the only thing I have seen that
works besides just splitting up the paragraph as you illustrated.

I think you are up against a known FrameMaker deficiency Erik. Force
Justify on that last line is not an option with or without any graphic
frames. I have never found a work-around other than that which you
have discovered.

Personally I don't see the last line looking odd - but then I'm not a
lover of fully justified text as, to me, that last line always looks
wrong when there are only a few words in it.
