Discussion:
FM file color definitions always goes bezerk

I'm using FM 6.0 on WinXP.

As I'm working on my document, the color definities inexplicably
reverts to a length list of RGB combinations, name "RGB x,y,z"
(x, y, and z are integers from 0 to 255). I can't even delete them.
No error message, they just don't go away. If I save the file to
MIF and import it, the color definitions become normal. The moment
I start navigating around, it reverts back to the strange list of
RGB combinations. What might cause this?

This is caused by imported graphics. Some image formats, notably
EPS and PNG, may contain a list of color definitions. When FM
reads such a graphic from file in order to display it, these color
definitions are added to the color list in FM.

The only way around this is to try saving your graphics in a
different way (experimenting with different options), or to use
other image formats. GIF, TIFF and JPEG does not have this problem.

Gosh, I have many, many little PNGs. I have to have a tutorial
presentation ready by tomorrow (actually a few hours from now).
Isn't that always the case, though. Oh well, thanks for the heads
up. For next time. Too bad, PNG seemed so space-efficient.

Glad your still frequenting this group, lord knows what ignorance
would perpetuate without you shining your light into it.

WMF and EMFs do this, too.
