I would like to put in my framemaker book (several docs) two page
numbers: one in format 1, 2, ... across the whole book, and other in
format 1.1, 1.2, ..., 2.1, 2.2, ... i.e. chapter.page.

I have been searching for variable/counters like in winword, but no
success.

Any suggestions? Thanks

On the master page, where you want 1.1 etc, put the chapter variable
then the page variable. E.g. Chapter Number "." Current Page #.

It's easy to achieve one page number system or the other in FM,
but to actually have *both* of them in the same files is much
more difficult. Why would you want that?

I have also the same problem...

... to be able to have a page number system for each chapter (I have 8
chapters, each one begins at 1,2...) but also a page numbering global to all
the chapters.
